Small Boat Deckhand/Able Seafarer (GA 2026)

All deck crew are regarded as someone who is fully conversant in all deck and/or engineering activities associated with marine operations.
They can successfully participate in the deck team during operations and will report directly to the Marine Officer / Deck Foreman when offshore.
The crew is also expected to take part in the competence assessment process.
They may optionally hold competencies as Riggers, Welders, Crane Operators or Able Seafarers.
- Valid certificate of competence (vessel under 200GT) in accordance with STCW Reg. 11/4, 11/5
- Current and valid medical certificate
- Valid certificates of training in personal survival; fire-fighting and fire prevention; first aid; and personal safety & social responsibility i.a.w. STCW reg VI/I
- Valid certificates of training for survival craft and medical care i.a.w. STCW Reg. VI/I-I & 3
- Knowledge of English i.a.w. STCW section A-II/I
- Candidates must have completed units of competence 15 and at least one unit from 6 to 9 before submitting them as part of their portfolio for this grade
Small Boat Marine Co-ordinator (GA 2026)

A Marine Co-ordinator is responsible for overseeing the safe operations of the work boat and associated personnel during a range of activites including Transfer of Personnel, Fuel Transfer, Towage, Anchor Handling, Vessel Speciifc Crane operations, Diving Operations, DP Operations
- Valid certificate of competency issued in accordance with STCW Reg. II/2 or 3 or VTS certificate
- Holds a Radio Operators certificate
- Has a valid flag state medical certificate
- Record of Competence should be in accordance with STCW Reg V1/1 and V1/6 and MARPOL 73/78 as amended
- Has valid flag state survival craft and medical care training certificates i.a.w. STCW Reg. VI/I (if operating from an offshore base)
- Has valid certificates for personal survival techniques; fire-fighting & fire prevention; elementary first aid; and personal safety & social responsibility in accordance with STCW Reg VI/I.
- Health & safety Training appropriate to role, vessel and operational location recognised by the flag sate
- Medical care in accordance with STCW Reg VI/1-3
- Record of Competence needs to take cognisance of flag and coastal state requirements at an management level
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, including formal training and assessment record of emergency drills / situations with (where applicable) assessment evidence being obtained from approved fire-fighting training and experience in accordance with STCW Reg A- VI/3
- Demonstrates knowledge of drafting emergency plans and administration of crisis management organisation i.a.w. STCW Reg. A-V/2, including formal training and assessment record of emergency drills/situations
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge and use of the English language i.a.w STCW Code Table A-II/I
Small Boat Master (GA 2026)

A Master of Small Boats is regarded as someone who is fully conversant in all aspects of marine operations and is able to demonstrate competent command and control of work covered by IMCA guidelines
- Valid certificate of competency (less than 200 GRT) issued in accordance with STCW Reg. II/2 or 3 and appropriate seagoing service
- Has a valid logbook that is kept up to date with training, qualifications and experience
- Record of Competence should be in accordance with STCW Reg V1/1 and V1/6 and MARPOL 73/78 as amended
- Record of Competence to be Master needs to take cognisance of flag and coastal state requirements at a management level
- Has a valid flag state medical certificate
- Has valid flag state survival craft and medical care training certificates i.a.w. STCW Reg. VI/I
- Has valid certificates for personal survival techniques; fire-fighting & fire prevention; elementary first aid; and personal safety & social responsibility in accordance with STCW Reg A-VI/3. Record of competence to be a Master taking cognisance of flag and coastal state requirements at management level
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge and use of the English language i.a.w STCW Code Table A-II/I
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, including formal training and assessment record of emergency drills/situations in accordance with STCW A-V1/3
- Medical care in accordance with STCW Reg VI/4 (Table A-VI/4-2)
Small Boat Support Engineer (GA 2026)

A Support Engineer is regarded as someone who is conversant in all aspects of marine engineering and is able to demonstrate competence in work covered by IMCA guidelines
- Valid certificate of competence (vessel under 200GT with a power of 1500kW) in accordance with STCW Reg A-111/5
- Current and valid medical certificate recognised by flag state
- Record of Competence should be in accordance with STCW Reg. VI/I and MARPOL 73/78 as amended
- Valid certificates of training in personal survival, fire-fighting & prevention; first aid; and personal safety & social responsibility STCW Reg. VI/I
- Medical care in accordance with STCW Reg VI/1-3
- Record of Competence to be an Able Seafarer/Support Engineer which needs to take cognisance of flag and coastal state requirements at a support level
- Record of Competence to be an Able Seafarer/Support Engineer demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures;
- Valid certificates of training for survival craft and medical care i.a.w. STCW Reg. VI/I-I
- Knowledge of English i.a.w. STCW section A-II/I
- Candidates must complete Units of Competence 16 and then at least one unit from 7 to 10 before submitting them as part of their portfolio for this grade
