Chief Engineer
Job Summary:
Competencies 1-4 for this grade are MANADATORY. You must also complete a minimum of 3 units of competency between 5 and 11.
E.g. Complete and submit competencies 1-4, 6, 8, 10 as your portfolio.
The areas that will be assessed within Chief Engineer Grade include:
Entry Level Specifications:
- Complies with IMCA guidance for Training and Experience of key DP personnel M 117, a valid flag state certificate i.a.w. STCW Reg. III/ 2&3 and appropriate seagoing service, propulsion power of 750kW and 300kW
- Has a valid IMCA logbook / record of competence that is kept up to date, with training, qualifications and experience i.a.w. STCW Reg. VI/I & MARPOL 73/78 annex I.
- Has a valid flag state medical certificate
- Has a valid flag state survival training certificate i.a.w. STCW Reg VI/2
- Has valid certificates for personal survival techniques; fire fighting & fire prevention and personal safety & social responsibility.
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge & use of the English language i.a.w STCW code table A III/I
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures, including formal training and assessment record of emergency drills / situations
- Appropriate certificate of training in medical first-aid i.a.w STCW Code Section A-VI/4 (table A-VI/4-I to 3)
- Record of competence to be a Master taking cognisance of flag and coastal state reqirements at management level
